Event Add-on for ERP: connect SAP to SAP Advanced Event Mesh.

The Event Add-on for ERP is the official SAP OEM product that turns SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA into live event producers for SAP Advanced Event Mesh – no ABAP development, licensed directly via SAP.

The missing link between SAP ABAP and AEM.

SAP Advanced Event Mesh now optionally comes with a customizable event connector for SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA systems: The Event Add-on for ERP: it installs directly on your SAP system, captures business events in real time and publishes them to the AEM broker – without any custom ABAP development.

The Add-on supports all standard SAP event sources: RAP Events (first choice for SAP S/4HANA), Business Object Repository (BOR), Business Transaction Events (BTE) and Change Documents. Every purchase order, goods movement, financial posting or status change is available as a structured CloudEvents-compliant message on AEM within milliseconds.

  • Outbound & inbound – bidirectional communication with AEM
  • Payload design without ABAP – tables, CDS views, SAP S/4HANA CDS View Entities
  • ASAPIO Event Studio: UI5-based cockpit for interface management & AsyncAPI export
  • Millions of events per day – parallel outbound at low SAP system impact

Everything you need to event-enable your SAP systems.

SAP OEM product

An official SAP product covered by SAP terms & conditions. Available under CPEA, BTPEA, subscription and pay-as-you-go commercial models – the same procurement path as any other SAP BTP service.

Real-time events from SAP

Captures events the moment they occur in SAP via RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model), BOR, BTE, Change Documents and IDocs – code-less for standard SAP objects. Purchase orders, goods movements, financial postings and status changes are published to AEM in milliseconds.

Code-less payload design

Model any SAP table, classic CDS view or SAP S/4HANA CDS View Entity as a message payload without ABAP development. Field renaming, value mapping, filters and BAdI extensibility keep payloads maintainable as your SAP system evolves.

ASAPIO Event Studio

A UI5-based web cockpit for managing all integration interfaces: browse the catalog, create and deploy interfaces, monitor message flows and export AsyncAPI specs.

High-volume performance

Parallel outbound messaging distributes load across SAP work processes. Handles millions of events per day at low CPU and memory impact – validated on production ECC and SAP S/4HANA landscapes, including single real-time events and large-volume batch transfers.

Inbound & outbound

Bidirectional: push SAP events out to AEM in real time via CloudEvents, and receive messages back into SAP. Supports standard integration patterns in both directions – enabling end-to-end workflows without custom development.

Where the Add-on creates immediate value.

Three production patterns customers implement with the Event Add-on for ERP and SAP Advanced Event Mesh.

Supply Chain

Real-time supply chain visibility

Every goods movement, delivery confirmation and inventory change in SAP reaches warehouse platforms, logistics partners and planning tools within milliseconds – without ETL jobs or polling loops.

Integration Modernisation

Replacing IDoc-based integrations

The Add-on converts SAP business events – purchase orders, invoices, deliveries – into structured JSON on AEM topics, replacing scheduled IDoc batches with a real-time, protocol-agnostic event stream.

Analytics & AI

Event-driven data pipelines

SAP events flow continuously into Azure Data Lake, AWS S3, Databricks or Snowflake – keeping AI/ML models and analytics dashboards current without overnight batch extracts or stale snapshots.

Connectivity and Protocol Support

Learn how the Event Add-on for ERP connects SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA systems to the Advanced Event Mesh via the native AMQP 1.0 protocol for high-performance messaging.

Four steps to go live with SAP Advanced Event Mesh

From SAP Discovery Center order to first live events – typically in under two weeks.

1

License via SAP Discovery Center

Book the "Connections" metric for SAP Advanced Event Mesh in your SAP BTP subaccount. Available under CPEA, BTPEA and pay-as-you-go. The Event Add-on for ERP component is activated alongside the AEM broker service.

2

Enable the Add-on flag in your broker

In your SAP BTP subaccount, activate the "Event Add-on for ERP" flag for the AEM broker instance you want to connect. This authorises the add-on to communicate with that specific broker.

3

Import the SAP transport into your system

Import the Event Add-on for ERP component (ASAAEMEE) into your SAP system alongside the base ASAPIO Integration Add-on (ASANWEE). Both components install via standard SAP transport import or SAP Maintenance Planner.

4

Configure and start sending events

Create an RFC destination pointing to your AEM broker, apply the implementation guide settings, then use ASAPIO Event Studio to define payloads, triggers and interfaces. First events reach AEM within hours.
