What is the migration?
In SAP S/4HANA, service procurement has been reimagined with a unified product master and a modernised document architecture. The new model – called Lean Services Procurement – replaces the classic MM-SRV approach from ECC.
While MM-SRV continues to be supported, SAP's strategic recommendation is clear: customers adopting a greenfield approach or looking to leverage the full potential of SAP Fiori should transition to the new data model. SAP Fiori apps have been built exclusively for Lean Services – MM-SRV documents are not compatible.

Staying on MM-SRV means missing out on Fiori UX, Best Practice compatibility, and modern workflow capabilities – all of which are built exclusively for the new data model.
SAP Fiori apps – including the Service Entry App – are built exclusively for the Lean Services data model. MM-SRV documents are not supported.
Scenarios like Central Purchasing are not supported for MM-SRV. Lean Services is the prerequisite for SAP's Best Practice procurement templates.
Lean Services introduces a modern, configurable workflow for service entry sheet approvals – not available in the legacy MM-SRV model.
Is there an official path by SAP?
SAP has provided a migration path via Note 2906140 – but it requires manual export and import of data as CSV files and does not support attachments or custom fields. For any organisation with a non-trivial MM-SRV landscape, this quickly becomes unmanageable.
